There's nothing more relaxing then a game of pool

Oh Lex had missed his pool table. It was one of the finest tables ever created and upholstered in royal purple velvet. The balls were a pro set and were shined to perfection, with a cue ball polished so white it looked flawless. It was one of Lex's most prized possessions, behind his cars of course, and one of the few things he'd added to the castle to make it his own.

And it was made even better with a handsome Russian bent over it. Lex stood to the side, leaning on his own personal stick, as he watched Anatoly's set up with one eye, and his ass with the other. "The cue ball is going to go right if you shoot like that." He said with a smirk in his voice. A master Anatoly may be at chess, he was still having trouble mastering the game of billards.

Lex moaned softly as Anatoly took over. It didn't happen often, which made Lex love it all the more, especially since Anatoly was the only person he'd allow the privilege. "Yes, I agree..." He breathed out as he arched his neck back as it was kissed and bit.

He was so enthralled that he didn't hear the door open and didn't realize they weren't alone until Clark spoke. Lex arched his neck farther back so he was looking at a startled Clark Kent staring at him and Anatoly with the roses Lex had ordered, upside down. "Clark!" He exclaimed in surprised, yet not wanting to move. He almost groaned. Why was being interrupted becoming a trend today? And by the worst people possible?

Running into Clark here was a situation he had most assuredly wanted to avoid. This didn't seem to be the Clark from the island, which was just as well considering what had happened the last time they met, but regardless, Anatoly wanted as little to do with him as possible. He simply didn't trust him or his motives, not after what he'd done to Lex.

Reluctantly, he let go of Lex and moved aside to allow him room to get off the table. He stayed close by, in case his support was needed, keeping a wary eye on Clark all the while.

Clark's knuckles were white as he gripped the basket, just barely not crushing it with his strength. As he swallowed down the odd feeling that wasn't jealousy, he began to get suspicious. This man coming out of no where was oddly reminiscent of Desiree. Maybe he was manipulating Lex in the same way? Maybe that was it, this guy was just someone else he'd have to rescue his best friend from.

"Lex? What's going on?"

Taking a moment to stand up and straighten himself out for a minute, Lex reached out and squeezed Anatoly's hand before turning to face Clark, coming out from behind the table as he did so. The look of non recognition in Clark's eyes when he looked at Anatoly meant this wasn't the Clark from the island and thus, this would no doubt look very odd to the farmboy. "Nothing you have to worry about Clark."

Lex walked over and took a rose from the basket Clark was holding, then returned to Anatoly. "Clark, I'd like you to meet a dear friend of mine. Anatoly Sergievsky. Anatoly...these are for you." With a small bow of his head, he presented the rose to the Russian, for the moment pretending Clark wasn't still staring.

"For me?" Anatoly repeated, stunned as he finally focused on what was in the basket Clark had been carrying. The roses looked exquisite, and when he brought the rose Lex had given him to his nose, he found they smelled even better.

For the moment, Clark was forgotten as he leaned in to give Lex a soft, sweet kiss. "You didn't need to do that."

As far as Clark was concerned, this had gone far enough. He cleared his throat loudly to break up the sweet moment, coming forward to set the basket of roses on the pool table. "Umm, Lex? Can I talk you?" When his friend seemed reluctant to move away from other man, he added a "Please?" with large wide eyes.

Anatoly's reaction was worth every effort of getting the roses. He was so humble and almost unaware of how amazing he was that is just made Lex want to spoil him even more. He raised a hand to brush some curls out of Anatoly's face. "Why? You deserve it. You had to live through a dark point in you life again. Let me take this opportunity to use my resources to spoil you a little."

After another soft, loving kiss, Lex turned to Clark. He gave his young friend a soothing smile. "Of course you can Clark." The smile faltered with surprise when his arm was grabbed and he was pulled out into the hallway.

Once the door was closed behind them, leaving Anatoly alone in the study, Lex dug in his heels and made Clark stop. "Okay Clark, we're in private as I assume that's what you were going for. I realize this situation stinks of Desiree, but I promise, it's not. I...can't explain so I just ask you to trust me." If Clark couldn't see the love in Lex's eyes, he had to be blind.

Anatoly had a suspicion that nothing he said would ever dissuade Lex from his need to shower him with gifts while they were here. It clearly made him happy to do so, and Anatoly was more than happy to indulge him.

At the request to speak to Lex alone, he warily glanced over at Clark. He couldn't exactly blame Clark for being suspicious about him, if that was his motive for pulling him away, but he couldn't help feeling possessive, either. Clark'd had his chance and lost. He wasn't about to give way to him now.

All things considered, it was best if he let Lex handle the situation, and so he let them go without a murmur.

Clark was so very torn. He remembered the look on Lex's face during both of his weddings, the happy open look. But nothing compared to the look in Lex's eyes at this moment. The blue was brighter then Clark had ever seen with pure emotion. Lex was happier then he had ever seen him at any wedding.

He thought that Lex would only ever look at him that way. And that's what hurt. He wanted Lex to be this happy...but he wanted to be the one to make him that way.

"I...I trust you Lex." And wasn't that a loaded statement. But at the moment, he didn't have a choice. He knew that. "But come on Lex...who is this guy? He showed up faster then Desiree. You have to see why I'm worried." And that didn't mean he wasn't going to express his concern.

Lex knew Clark had to be concerned, and it touched him deeply to see the evidence of it. After the cold shoulder he'd gotten from the Clark on the island, this was a welcome respite.

"Clark, if you trust me..." He said simply, putting his hands on Clark's shoulders for emphasis, "Then trust me when I tell you that you wouldn't believe me if I told you. Like alot that happens in this town. And trust me when I say that I've known Anatoly for longer then you think and he means everything to me." He couldn't help the stupid grin on his face. "Everything. And I know he isn't using me because he faced down my father in the nude this morning and you and I both know that means love. So, I appreciate your concern Clark, more then you know, but please...trust me." The last two words were said with the same hushed whisper in which the words 'I love you' were usually uttered and perhaps it would be the closet Clark and Lex would ever get to them.

But instead, Lex kissed Clark's cheek, then turned to walk back to Anatoly in the library, leaving a wide eyed Clark behind him.
