Driving through the depressing little town that was now his prison. Thanks Dad.

Leaning down to answer his cell phone, which had started to ring.

Looking up to see the truck skid and the roll of wire snap off the bed to start right for him.

Swerving out of the way and heading right for the railing of the bridge. And the young man standing there.

Shock of hitting the water and promptly passing out.

This all raced through Lex's head as he awoke with a start. The accident in Smallville was the last thing he remembered...so how was he waking up in a bed and not in his car in the river? Or waking up at all for that matter. And nowhere he'd ever seen before. His father had made it clear that he wasn't leaving Smallville for the foreseeable future...and this place certainly felt more tropical then ass backward Kansas could ever hope for. Scottish Castle it could pull off but not tropical island.

It was only a moment after waking when Lex realized he wasn't alone. Well, he certainly wasn't going to complain there. The man was a little older then he usually took to bed but he was at least pretty enough to make up for it. The stubble on his cheeks certainly helped. Lex idly wished he could have remembered the night before and how he got here, but this wasn't the first time he'd woken up in a strange place a continent away with no memory of how he got there so he wasn't too worried. Though it did bring a smile to his face. Lionel would be pissed.

Instead, he climbed out of bed (was that a dog curled up on the end?) and moved to find his clothes, wallet and cell phone, hopefully before the sleeping man woke up. He wondered if there was a jewelry store nearby...

Anatoly stirred as he felt Lex get out of bed and he rolled on to his side to smile fondly at him. Though he was increasingly worried about the prospect of Molokov being here and lurking around, having Lex at his side was truly a godsend. He was safe, protected with Lex.

"Getting up so soon, Sascha?"

This was a dream, Anatoly thought as he looked at Lex in horror. This had to be a dream, Lex would never treat him like this, never act as if he didn't know him for a joke. This was a dream... or it was the island pulling its most cruelest trick yet.

"Lex," he said as he sat up, doing his best to keep his hands from shaking. "You... you don't know me?"

Anatoly couldn't help but hear shades of Lionel in Lex's tone and knew that explaining the island along with everything else was going to be a painful experience. If this was permanent.. but it wouldn't. It couldn't. He just had to get through this until Lex's memory returned.

"They are in the drawer over there however... however, I need to tell you something," Anatoly answered slowly. "You are not where you think you are. You are on an island called Tabula Rasa."

Anatoly flinched at the casual mention of Lionel, wondering just how much memory Lex had lost. He couldn't ever remember Lex referring to his father in so flippant a manner.

"I think that depends on your definition of love," Anatoly said dryly. "But he is not here... that I know of."

He wanted to reach out to Lex, beg him to stay, kiss him until he remembered who he was but Anatoly knew none of these would work. The island was not so kind as allow there to be such a simple solution. No, until it was tired with its fun and games, he was going to deal with this as best he could.

"I...," he started to say then stopped. What could he say? It seemed clear Lex would not believe him if he told him about their history and would probably think it was a desperate attempt to keep him from leaving. Lex was bound and determined to leave and he had to accept that as things stood now, nothing he could say would stop him.

"I wish you well," he said finally, glancing down at the floor.

He needed to get up and get dressed so he could let Kon and Cassie know that Lex had lost his memory. There were other people who ought to know too... Trixa, Helen. He also wanted to see if this was happening island-wide or he was just that lucky.

There were so many things Anatoly knew he ought to do but he couldn't bring himself to move. Instead, he clung to a very confused Aeneas and wept.
