For Anatoly and Clark

Back in his 'normal' life, Lex had never stopped to enjoy the simple pleasures. Of course, there were many who didn't believe that Luthors even knew what simple pleasures were, as they were too busy crushing people's lives with their Italian leather shoes before running over them in their exotic sports cars to return home to eccentric castles to drink ancient Scotch. And at home, Lex would have agreed with them, or at least, all of it except the first, which he happily left to his father.

Lex had gone from teenage rebellion straight into trying for once to be a responsible human being, so he'd never been on speaking terms with simple anything. Even his relationships with people, such as Clark and Helen, were more like miniature battles of tug of war then simple companionship they should have been.

But here on the island, it was so much simpler. A hand in a head of curly hair. The other gripping at the wall by said head of curly hair. Hips thrusting against just as responseive hips during a heated kiss against one of the outside Compound walls. Just the fact that Lex could suddenly pull Anatoly into a slightly secluded spot and pin him against the wall for a heated kiss just because he wanted to was simple joy enough. And if there was one thing Lex had always been good at, was taking advantage.

"At least no yogurt was involved this time. The dramatics could have been unthinkable," Anatoly couldn't help but say, unable to resist a jab at his absent opponent. He glanced at Clark solemnly, even as he fought to hide a grin. "The choice of a man's yogurt can have great affect on affairs of state."

The levity was infinitely preferable to wondering about this Victoria and what she might have done.

At the comments about yogurt, Lex couldn't help a deep laugh and another playful kiss to Anatoly's forehead. The cattiness only made Lex adore him more in that moment. "Remember that Clark. Pick your yogurt carefully." He added with secret smile.

Then he nodded with a more friendly grin. "Of course. Come by the hut anytime around mid morning and we'll get you those lessons." Then he added with a knowing look. "Then we can grab lunch after wards and you can tell me all about how you and this Xander are doing." His tone was reminiscent of when he'd ask Clark about Lana.

The yogurt thing was beyond him. He probably had to be there, so he just smiled and nodded. "I'll try to remember that," he said. Inside jokes? Charming. Still, he was glad Lex had finally found someone he could be "cute" with. Even if it was extremely disturbing.

Clark's brows furrowed. "Thanks," he said. Clark would stick to not talking about Xander to Lex for now. If only because it was still something he was working on. "I'll talk to you soon."

Anatoly merely smiled, unobtrusively pressing closer to Lex. There was history between them, and he would not, for all the world, interfere with that. He'd step back and let Lex manage this, not knowing what else he could say.

Luthor's didn't do cute so it would be disturbing. Lex liked to think of it as familiar. Very familiar.

And now that Clark seemed to be set on leaving, Lex took Anatoly's hand in his. "I hope to see you soon Clark." Something about Clark catching them had added a certain giddiness to Lex's mood. Perhaps the fact he'd proved he could function on a steady path without the boy? Still, he was unfamiliar with the feeling, or even why he had it, but he wasn't about to let it go to waste.

With a nod to Clark, he led Anatoly away from the compound and in the direction of their hut, his thoughts going back to what they were before Clark had interrupted.
